The pens are over the cap as it stands so Niskanen could be had for a reasonable price I'm sure. Mid round pick... 2nd rounder if Shero really plays hardball and but more likely a 3rd or maybe even 4th rounder if the remaining free agents drive down his price. Pens fans on this site seem to give Matt a bad rap, but he is a number 4 guy at times. fortunately for the pens, they have too many guys nudging him out |

Matt, I know it's not about Joni, but Lindholm won't be playing much, if at all, in Traverse City because of that shoulder injury. I know JR thanks he'll be ready by Oct. 1, but what if he isn't? |

I disagree on your assesment of Hainsey. This guy can qb a power play if given the chance. Early in his career that was his strength but he has developed into a steady shot blocking dman when his pp time ended after Columbus. The only reason he is not not signed I believe is he may be looking for too much money. He is easily worth 3 mill but may have to sit a bit to get what he wants. Good player though and durable. |

Agree totally, except about $$ and think signing Hainsey is a real likely move for JR!
As for Lindholm...I think it's always been a bit of a pipe-dream to think he could come in and play 3rd line ctr., or even wing...? It's possible, but that's what they were thinking about Welsh..SO..??? at this point i'd expect Nash or someone else is more likely the 3rd line Center.
That said...A MONTH IS A GOOD AMOUNT OF TIME! lots can happen. |

Ian White could fill the void for a few months
Plus Sekera can play the PP if the coach lets him run with it - homiedclown
We have been there done that with White ,but Having to pay Hainsey $3m ,maybe $1.5m or no thanks we also need to bring in Brendan Morrow ,so White as a stop gap before overpaying for Hainsey Hmmm. |

Matt Niskanen is a very real option. At 2.3M and a very competitive, under the radar defenseman, would love to see him in a Cane's uniform. He has plenty of upside and would fit nicely within the core D men already here. |
